We enroll various college and university graduates in these courses. We provide them with further training in CAD, GIS, and Geo-ICT, making them immediately ready for deployment by clients.

More than 200 trainees who have already been deployed and hired by over 50 different clients

We now have more than 200 trainees who have been deployed and hired by over 50 different clients. Our clients particularly appreciate the continuity and the ease with which our professionals fit seamlessly into their teams.

Busy times ahead for our clients!

The Netherlands has a lot planned for public spaces in the coming years. These will be busy times for our clients. We train our trainees, who then find their place with our clients. After a year, they are hired permanently at no cost.

Our trainees: your future workforce

Young, highly educated, and quickly productive

Our trainees hold at least a bachelor’s degree and have already worked with CAD, GIS, and geoinformation during their studies. They have an affinity for civil engineering, construction, pipeline routing, and soil and nature projects taking place in public spaces.

Providing your projects with the right (geo) information

Our trainees have access to all geo-information (BAG, BGT, Kadaster, BRO, BRT, Copernicus) and can also create maps themselves using CAD and GIS. They can help prepare your projects, manage your projects, and provide your projects with the right (geo) information.

They fit into your team and stick around!

Our trainees are young and adaptable and fit in effortlessly. They learn quickly and immediately feel at home in teams of enthusiastic colleagues.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hiring Trainees

We do both. Every month, we offer a variety of courses to students throughout the Netherlands. We allow graduates who are looking to enter the job market to participate in these courses. We place these trainees with our clients. As a training provider, we are affiliated with the NRTO, NEN4400 certified, and listed in the SNA registry. We meet all the requirements of a staffing agency.

  • Trainees find us through various channels, including social media, our contacts at colleges and universities, and/or directly through our website.
  • We first screen the resumes we receive. Trainees must have at least a college-level education and professional proficiency in Dutch (minimum C1 level).
  • The trainees come from various fields of study and have already worked with geoinformation, CAD, or GIS during their studies.
  • After the initial selection, there is a live interview in Apeldoorn.
  • After that, the trainees participate in one or more courses.
  • At the same time, we work on their resumes and assess which clients and positions they might be a good fit for.

  • The trainees have at least a bachelor’s degree and have already gained some experience during their internships and while completing their degrees. Most of them have held various part-time jobs alongside their studies.
  • They have knowledge of at least one GIS package, such as QGIS or ArcGIS, and one CAD package, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation. They take certified courses for these.
  • Often, other certifications are required, such as a SCRUM certificate for those who will be working in SCRUM teams and the VCA certificate for those who will also be working in the field. They also obtain these certifications through us.

We pay trainees the same salary that the client would pay if the trainee had been hired directly. This is required by law under the regulations governing the client’s obligation to pay wages. We add our margin on top of that. Initially, this may cost you a bit more. However, it also gives you the opportunity to really get to know the trainee and, after a year, decide whether or not to enter into a long-term employment relationship.

  • Our HR manager proactively reaches out to the assigned trainees every month to check in on how they’re doing.
  • We are always available during business hours for our clients
  • If additional courses are needed, they can be taken through us. The client does not pay for the course, but only the hourly rate.
  • At the end of the traineeship, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation with the trainee.

  • We enter into a secondment agreement with the client. This agreement stipulates that the trainee may be hired permanently at no cost after 1,700 billable hours.
  • Geo-ICT is NEN4400 certified, and we comply with all legal requirements applicable to staffing agencies.
  • We inform clients exactly what the trainee earns with us so that together we can ensure that, if the trainee is hired, their compensation aligns with the salary scales in effect at the organization.

Of course, that happens from time to time. In such cases, we require a one-month notice period. The trainee continues to work for us as usual, and we immediately start looking for another assignment.

Our trainees have strong CAD and GIS skills and know how and where all base maps are maintained. In addition, they are able to enrich that geographic information to make the most of it in all projects taking place in public spaces. Here are a few examples:

  • Maintaining and improving the utility maps of network companies such as Enexis, Liander, Stedin, Endures, Westland Infra, Rendo, and Coteq.
  • Maintaining and improving the utility maps of water utilities: Brabant Water, Dunea, Evides, Oasen, PWN Waterleidingbedrijf, Vitens, Waterbedrijf Groningen, Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg, Waternet, WMD Drinkwater
  • Designing and preparing fiber-optic networks
  • Maintaining the BAG, BGT, BRO, and WOZ databases at various data providers
  • Participating in GIS projects at Water Boards
  • And updating the maps of (main) waterways, roads, and engineering structures at Rijkswaterstaat
  • Preparing work for construction and infrastructure contractors such as BAM
  • Working on spatial projects at major engineering firms such as Antea, Arcadis, and Sweco
  • Projects at major surveying firms such as Geomaat, Facto Geo, and the Prisma Group.
  • Working on projects at soil and environmental companies such as Mateboer and Lycens.

  • The market is evolving rapidly, and so are our clients. Our trainees are quick learners and enjoy taking on new challenges.
  • Most trainees also receive on-the-job training directly at the client’s site to help them become productive quickly.
  • The biggest development in the geosector is, of course, GeoAI and the use of drones and remote sensing. To respond to this, we are developing new courses in this field. See GeoAI courses.

Our trainees are often recent graduates who have already learned a great deal about these important topics during their studies. We also discuss these topics with our trainees. From the very beginning, we outline the context in which projects related to energy, the environment, and land use take place.

  • We expect the trainee to work 1,700 billable hours, after which they will be hired.
  • Hiring after 2,000 hours is also possible; in that case, we can discuss the hourly rate.
  • We focus on long-term projects. The intention on our part, on the part of the trainee, and on the part of the client is that the trainee will be hired permanently afterward.
  • Discounts are negotiable for the hiring of multiple trainees.

Yes, you’ll have a dedicated point of contact here. If you or the trainee have any questions, please feel free to contact our HR manager.

The first step is to contact us via email at info@geo-ict.nl, by phone at +316 4346 3838, or through our contact page. We can then schedule an online meeting to explore the possibilities. Some clients have their own recruitment departments and, for example, a hiring desk where we can present trainees.
