Dagindeling

Day 1

During the introduction, we’ll explore the FME Desktop interface. Using the appropriate reader, we’ll first import the desired data. With the help of the separate desktop component, FME Data Inspector, you’ll conduct an initial exploration of the geometry and attributes of the objects. This will help us familiarize ourselves with the data and determine which transformers we need to perform any necessary data transformations. A selection of the most important transformers will be covered, including the: Tester, AttributeManager, PointonAreaOverlayer, Sorter, and FeatureMerger. Through various exercises, you’ll learn to design your first transformations in an interactive way.

After this day, you’ll be able to:

  • Inspect data using the data inspector
  • Remove, modify, or create attributes
  • Configure the readers and writers
  • Filter and split data
  • Link data from different sources (spatially)

Day 2

On Day 2, we’ll dive into workspace design. Using bookmarks and annotations, you’ll organize and structure your workspace, making it clear and easy to navigate for both you and your colleagues. We’ll also discuss coordinate systems and how to set them up correctly in the workspace. We’ll now perform a more complex spatial analysis, learning how to import open data and calculate averages and totals. We’ll use several transformers, including the Bufferer, Aggregator, Sampler, Areacalculator, Featurereader, and Featurewriter. By the end of this day, you’ll have a solid foundation to continue working independently with FME Desktop.

After this day, you will be able to:

  • Design a workspace according to best practice principles
  • Perform (spatial) analyses
  • Set up coordinate systems
  • Import open data via WMS and WFS
