My name is Joram van der Vlist. I am a GIS developer specializing in cloud-native and web-based geospatial solutions. I combine expertise in geospatial data with software development, data analysis, and clear communication.
My background is in Geology (Utrecht University), where my interest in data and programming began. After graduation, I worked as a Python developer at the engineering firm Geonius, where I developed backend APIs in Azure, Python applications, and custom QGIS plugins.
I have extensive experience with Python, REST APIs, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and QGIS, and am increasingly working on web- and cloud-native geospatial solutions, including AI. I also have experience in education and in mentoring and training interns and colleagues.
I am a strong advocate of Open Source and believe in sustainable, reusable geospatial solutions that truly help people move forward.
