Surveying, a field as old as civilization itself, remains indispensable in our modern world of geoinformation and geodata. This science, which deals with measuring and mapping our physical world, is the backbone of countless projects—from urban planning to construction—where precision and accuracy are paramount. In the Surveying Course at Geo-ICT, you will not only learn the basic principles of surveying but also how to apply these principles using the latest technologies such as GPS receivers and Total Stations.
The transition to digital surveying has opened the door to a more efficient and precise way of working. This means you’ll learn to prepare survey data in AutoCAD and then implement it in the field using advanced tools. This approach not only reduces the risk of errors but also increases the speed at which projects can be completed. With a focus on applying these methods in the field, the course offers a hands-on learning experience that takes your skills to the next level.
Importantly, after this course, you will not only possess theoretical knowledge but will also have developed practical skills that are directly applicable to your work or projects. This makes the Surveying Course at Geo-ICT a valuable investment in your professional future.
New to surveying? Then the surveying course is for you!
Surveying plays a crucial role in the world of geoinformation and geodata, where integration with modern Geo-ICT technologies is central. The applications are diverse and essential for both urban development and nature conservation. Below are a few points that highlight the impact of surveying in today’s Geo-ICT:
The integration of surveying with Geo-ICT opens new doors for professionals in the field, allowing them to work with advanced tools and techniques. This not only increases the precision of their work but also offers new possibilities for the analysis and interpretation of geodata. Thanks to these technological advances, today’s surveyor is a key figure in the planning and realization of future projects, where his or her expertise contributes to shaping our world.
In the Surveying training at Geo-ICT, you will learn how to effectively fulfill this role, with a strong emphasis on the practical application of Geo-ICT in your surveying work.
The foundation of surveying lies in the basic principles that ensure accuracy and reliability in the collection of geoinformation. These principles are the building blocks for various applications in the modern world, from construction projects to environmental management. Some key aspects of this are:

Contact usSurveying, staking out, and land measurement—or the collection of geospatial data in the field—are carried out by various organizations in the Netherlands, such as municipalities, provinces, water boards, railways, Rijkswaterstaat, ministries, and research institutes.
The following types of measurements are performed:
• Leveling: determining the elevation of a point relative to NAP (Netherlands Aegean Sea Level) using a continuous leveling survey.
• Laser: measuring local elevations or setting out slopes
• Total Stations: surveying a section of terrain with a Total Station and setting out a new object to be constructed. To do this, the instrument must first be set up above a known point. The points will be coded so that a drawing can be made later.
During this day, the student will receive a brief introduction to dimensioning. The following topics will be covered:
Surveying in construction is performed with a high degree of precision and reliability. Surveying is increasingly being done digitally using a total station. The operation of a total station will be covered, and a number of practical exercises will be conducted using it. The following topics will be addressed:
Students will learn how to use MC Start and MC Next to extract points from digital drawings and transfer them to their instruments. The following topics will be covered:
